  12. Thank you for acquiring a copy of Easy Access.  To get a copy of
  13. the users manual type 'PRINT EASY.MAN'.  This will print the users
  14. manual on your printer.

  17. What follows is simple installation instructions.  More detailed
  18. instructions can be found in the users manual.

  21.                        Installation Instructions
  22.  
  23. Note  :  If you are upgrading from a previous version of the menu system
  24.          please read the notes regarding changes effective with this release
  25.          BEFORE continuing with installation.  If your previous version
  26.          number is not the same as the one you are installing, some or
  27.          all of the files will not be compatible, ex: 5.0a to 5.0f is
  28.          ok but 5.0a to 5.1a will not work with the same files.

  30. Step 1:  Create a sub-directory for the menu programs & files
  31.          Ex: MD C:\MENUS
  32.  
  33. Step 2:  Copy the menu programs into the directory
  34.          Ex: COPY A:*.* C:\MENUS
  35.  
  36. Step 3:  Change your working directory to the directory you copied the
  37.          menu programs too
  38.          Ex: CD \MENUS
  39.  
  40. Step 4:  Run MS.EXE
  41.          Ex: MS
  42.  
  43. Step 5:  The program will display the TengWare logo & ask you to hit
  44.          the Enter key or F10 key, take your pick.

  46.          The program now will tell you the cofiguration file was not
  47.          found, do you wish to define it,  answer 'Y'.  The computer
  48.          will now ask for several things regarding how you want it to
  49.          work.  Remember F1 = HELP at all inputs.  The configuration
  50.          can be changed at any time so you are not stuck with the set-
  51.          up you are creating now.

  53. Step 6:  If you answered 'Y' to User Log On the computer will now ask
  54.          for your sign on, otherwise proceed to step 7.

  56.          The first time you sign on the Sign On is '*' and the Password
  57.          is 'tengware'.  I suggest you add yourself into the user file
  58.          as soon as possible, F8 from the menu, because the '*' sign on
  59.          does not behave the same as other sign on's.

  61. Step 7:  The computer will now ask you to set up the main menu, even if
  62.          you are not yet ready to set it up answer 'Y'.

  64.          Enter the appropriate data for the main menu, then hit the F10
  65.          key.  The main menu is now displayed on your screen.  Now hit
  66.          the F10 key again.  You are now back to DOS.  From now on to
  67.          access the menu system DO NOT enter MS, instead enter MENU.

  71.          The menu system is now functional

  73.          To set up Sub-Menus:
  74.  
  75.          Sub-Menus are defined by entering 'M' for Disk in menu maintenance.
  76.          The path input will be skipped & the computer will ask for program
  77.          name.  This is not actualy a program name but the file name of the
  78.          menu you will be runing.  If the menu file was not previously set
  79.          up the first time you try to run it it will ask you to set it up.

  82.          If you set up you autoexec.bat file with PATH C:\MENUS you will
  83.          be able to access the menu system at any time regardless of what
  84.          directory you are in by typing 'MENU'.

  86.          An example autoexec.bat file:     echo off
  87.                                            path c:\DOS; C:\MENU
  88.                                            cd \MENU
  89.                                            MSRESET
  90.                                            MENU

  92.          or if you do not wish to include the MENU directory in your
  93.          path command, copying MENU.BAT into your DOS directory will
  94.          provide the same results.

  96.          If you have User Log On enabled:
  97.  
  98.          MSRESET.EXE will force the menu system to require a log on before
  99.          allowing the user access to any programs.  This is helpful for
  100.          those users that just shut off the computer without logging off.

  102.          The menu system will allways require a log on if the system date
  103.          changes or the previous user logged off.

  106.          If occasionally the computer says it can't find a file or you are
  107.          getting IO errors for no apparent reason you probably need to
  108.          increase the number of files / buffers in CONFIG.SYS
  109.  
  110.          Example CONFIG.SYS file:    files  = 32
  111.                                      buffers= 32

  113.          The CONFIG.SYS file MUST be in the root directory of the drive
  114.          you boot from.
